Aliceville Middle School Media Center
Welcome to the Aliceville Middle School Media Center webpage!!!
Here at AMS our students visit the media center with their English teacher on a weekly basis. In addition to scheduled class times, students may come alone or in small group for research purposes, Accelerated Reader testing and to check out books throughout the school day. Furthermore, teachers can reserve the media center to work on projects, research and more. It is our goal for the media center to be the hub of the school and we strive to have a truly open door policy
In order to succeed in today’s universities and be competitive in the workplace, it is necessary that our students possess a diverse skill set. Here in the AMS media center it is our goal to facilitate the development of these skills within our students. In addition to checking out books, students work towards the goal of building the information literacy, reading and computer skills that are so critical to their success in the future.
The AMS media program seeks to create a 21st century environment that promotes learning for all students by providing equitable access to information, teaching information literacy skills, and encouraging lifelong learning. The library media center strives to be a center of collaborative learning that produces creative students who have an appreciation of literature, critical thinking skills, and a respect for others and self.
Furthermore, we strive to provide students with the opportunity to become not only lifelong users of information, but also creators of information. The library will support the curriculum by collaborating with teachers, developing a collection that is representative of the community, and implementing literacy instruction for students.
Students are responsible for all materials checked out on their student ID number. Students should not check out for other students.
